Refocus

When I was training for my half, I had a set training plan. I probably skipped or revised at least one workout per week, due to work or kids. But I was running 3-4 days a week and doing some cross training once a week. May 4th loomed on the horizon, and I knew I couldn’t miss a run or May 4th would be tough.

Now that I’m not training for anything, I’m a slug. My foot is probably 85% healed and I’m using it as an excuse. No more! I’m ready to refocus. Starting next week, I’m going to challenge myself to run at least 15 miles per week…trying to shoot for a 4, 5, and 6 mile run. I want to do at least one day of cross training…weights, bike, swimming. I’d also like to start going to Saturday morning yoga again, but that might have to wait until after Noel’s half IM.

I guess I shouldn’t say I’m not training for anything. I am signed up for a 10K on May 31st and a 4 miler on June 15th (my birthday!). Hmm…maybe this refocus is VERY needed.

I ran 4 miles this morning at the gym on the treadmill. It felt really good! I told myself that I would run until my foot felt uncomfortable. But I also told myself that if I could make it to four miles, I would reward myself by hitting up Walmart for new shorts and skorts to wear to work this summer. My mom found some for $12!

Anyway…now for the random tidbits…

I cut my hair short about six months ago. I have thin, straight hair that breaks when I put it up in a pony tail. Since the big chop, I’ve relied on Bondi Bands to hold my hair back during runs. Well…now I have a new love. Plain ole cheap bandanas! My mom found this one at Walmart for $1 and thought of me. I love owls! I just folded it a few times and tied it at the back. Voila!

She went back and got me these ones today! I bet they soak up the sweat better than my wicking Bondi Bands. I love the blue bird one!

Last summer, when I hit 40lbs lost, I celebrated by buying a bikini. I have a substantial amount of stretch mark scars on my belly, but it’s flat so I’m comfortable showing my mommy stripes in a bikini. Back in March, I found this one at Victoria’s Secret and fell in love with the color and style. It was backordered but I didn’t need it until the end of May. Well…it got delayed twice more and just arrived today! Well worth the wait! I love it! I can’t wait for the pools to open next week!

That size 6 sticker has been there for a few months. I took it off my first pair of size six jeans and stuck it on my mirror. I’ve bought size 4s since then but they didn’t have stickers! I should probably take the sticker down, but I just can’t bring myself to.

Another part of my refocus is to get my steps on my trackers back up where they should be. I wear a FitBit Zip and a Garmin Vivofit. I have only been hitting 10,000 steps about half of the time since running Prairie Fire. That’s just sad. I’m an active girl. I like to run errands, play with my kids and dog outside…and that just hasn’t been happening. I’ve been spending too much time in my chair with a book or an electronic distraction. I’m on a five day 10,000 step streak. I hope to keep it up. I’d like to challenge myself to hit 10,000 steps every day for the month of June.

I hope everyone is having a good hump day!

Do any of my readers wear an activity tracker?

Where do you buy clothes?
I stick to mostly Target, Old Navy, and Walmart.

Do you rock the bikini?
